OK, I now have a good idea of what my Trailer is going to be.

The main idea of the storyline is basically, much like your average superhero comic, it is going to be based on a Super Villain called DAMON VAN DEER who is set on taking over the world.. He dreams of creating the ultimate army and giving everyone the ultimatum to either die or bow down to his every demand. One day he wakes up and is over the moon.. He breaks it to his slave that he has come up with his best idea to date. Basically his idea is to create a virus to create zombies.. Now, in his mind he thinks that he will be invincible against anyone because he will have his army of zombies to protect him and also make him invincible in the sense that he can finally rule what he thinks belongs to him.. EARTH!

Whereas, in reality lives just a normal guy called COLIN SMITH. He is your average teenager who always finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time.. And it just so happens that he has a habit of saving the day! This is why the town praise of him, so much so that they call him the town hero. COLIN doesn't mind the attention so much but he understands that hes no hero, he must just be unlucky. You see, COLIN is an accidental hero.. he never aims to save the day, if it was up to him he would run in the opposite direction of trouble but it just seems so inevitable..

So, The story is that DAMON VAN DEER creates these zombies and puts the whole town under distress. Everyone is massively under stress and are literally scared out of their wits. A couple of weeks pass by, and the state of the town is literally horrifying. Many times, the towns people have tried to get together to think up plans to overcome this and finally defeat DAMON VAN DEER, but there has been no point, as soon as they come anywhere near the Evil Villain and his zombie they get either defeated or are to scared and give in .. either way they conclude to be zombies.

Anyway to the point.. COLIN gets roped in by his friends to be the next ones to give an attempt, even if not successful, in defeating the mastermind behind this evil scheme!

They all get together and decide upon why maybe everyone failed before. One of the friends come up with the idea of them not maybe having the right resources or protection was why they never returned.. everyone thinks that he is so right and they all decide to part their ways and go home to find the deadliest weapons and get some hardcore gear to wear!
After a couple of hours they all regroup at COLIN'S house where to each others disbelief they all think they look amazing and are actually beginning to realise this could be a possibility, they could, today, defeat the evil DAMON VAN DEER!!..

Back to reality, how they think this is unreal.. do they not see themselves wearing pots, pans.. basically everything but the kitchen sink.

From this point onwards, they go out on their zombie hunting adventure, one by one, zombies are kicked to the curb. In the trailer, i want this part to be the main bulk of the idea portrayed. I want the zombie killing spree to be on a green screen so that it looks more like an indie comic book. For example, when they are running, i want them to be litterally running on the spot but with the background moving behind them so it gives the comic effect. In doing so, i want random zombies to approach them whilst they are running and i want them to get hit by the men and then fly off in the opposite direction. With that happening, i want there to be the cliched 'Pow', 'Bang' and 'Smack' ect to appear on the screen when a zombie gets hit. This will also give the idea of it being a comic book style indie film.

Towards the end of the story, it will reintroduce DAMON VAN DEER and the group of 'heros' with their life or death concluding fight. It will be the 'heroes' fighting a load of Zombies trying the get to DAMON VAN DEER. In the trailer this will be portrayed in clips of them fighting the Zombies and again there will be the Onomatopeaia flying around in the background. It will only show you COLIN gradually getting to DAMON then the screen will go blank leaving there to be one big annoying Cliff hanger!

This is my completed mood board.

Today i am hoping to get my story board and mood board done. I finally have a vague idea of what i am doing. I want the trailer to be about a group of friends who go to the pub in the middle of a zombie invasion as the think, why not have a last couple of drinks before we die, kind of thing. After being at the pub for quite a few hours, one of them decides it would be a great idea if they be the heroes and get rid of the zombies once and for all.

As it will be an indie comedy, im going to aim for it too be hilarious and over dramatic. For example, when they decide to go after the zombies, rather go about it like the average person because they have had a few beers or whatever, they go home get dressed up as some sort of superheroes, grab the nearest sort of weapon and go forth the mission.

I think i want the title of the film to be, 'Super heroes Vs Zombies' as its short, sweet and to the point.

I have a few thoughts about a story line, im thinking something to do with supoerheroes and zombies.. it all sounds vague and stupid at the momnet but i feel like im getting somewhere.

I have watched a few more movie trailers more towards this idea now, here are some and why they are relevant:

Shaun of the Dead

 I love this film!! I got my idea of the zombies from this film, and i think the comedic side of the film is great.

Scott Pilgrim vs the world

 

With this film, as im such a fan of Micheal Cera (his social awkwardness is beyond fantastic), it was an easy descision to want to do an indie comedy like this. I want to use the idea of the superhero costumes, due to it being comedic but also different.

 

 

Kickass



 

Again, this is another 'Superhero' film. I love the adventure side of these films, and again with the costumes.

 

 

Zombieland



 

Zombieland is a film about a zombie invasion too, its a comedy where in the end its a fight to survive which relates to my ideas..

 

 

These films have been inspiration for my trailer thus far.

I have now decided to not do a Rom-com or a Horror. I think the idea of doing a comedy is just more appealing to me.. After some hard deliberation, and a brainstorm, I have obliterated my commendable effort to create such a masterpiece, now I must disappoint you all, but to make up for it I will bring you laughter with my own take on an Indie Comedy.

After scowering Youtube for Trailer inspiration..

On Youtube, i have come across many different types of A2 media trailers. Loads of great examples and a lot of rather terrible ones. At the minute, I am not too sure of the genre i want for my Trailer.. i am stuck between whether to choose a Rom-Com or a Horror. They are both the best types of films, well in my opinion.

Anyway here are some of the trailers i have just watched and have stood out:

The first one being 'BELIEVE', which is a horror trailer. From this trailer, i liked the dramatic music at the beginning and the feeling it gives out to the audience when the child starts to hum/sing.

 

 

The next one is called 'Abducted', and this one stood out because, the story line was clear and also the there is a fight scene when the abductor is punching a kicking a man, and the sound effects were really good and it looked really realistic.

 

 

I then came across a Romantic Comedy which makes me giggle, its called, 'Going Nowhere'. What really stands out to me is the music and the text and the way it comes across the screen as well as the colour choice. Its all round a classic looking Rom-com with it being relateable and funny.



 



The next youtube video i watched was an A-level short film, which I'm watching again currently, i find so interesting. I said how i wanted to base my trailer on a Rom-com or a horror, well this one is slightly different and its a short film about a boy who has agoraphobia. It is called, 'Bad timing'. It drew me in because it was tensionous and i wanted to know what would happen to him at the end. The music is also very fitting to the short film.

 

 

The next trailer is called, 'High school Detention Musical', it is a comedy. It is one of the terrible trailers.. I am cringing. I got the story line but it was due to my common sense as is wasn't portrayed clearly. I like the idea but it was too cheesy.

Lastly, I really like this one comedy called, 'Reset' Its slight like the film,'Bruce Almighty' to the extent of a man being singled out to god. I think the use of music has been used in such a great way for example at the beginning when he falls asleep and the music slows down and then abruptly stops.

 

 









So after hard deliberation, i think I'm stuck between whether to do a horror or a Rom-com. Its difficult to find examples of them that are of good quality because most of them are either really serious and not in that genre or aren't taken very seriously, ie being a comedy.
